Subliminal Faces

It is common for people to see hidden faces in things like clouds, landscapes, or architectural structures. The act of finding the latent or virtual image hidden in the manifest image is a mental process related to the concept of the "lost object" used in psychoanalysis. As an artist, I enjoy including subliminal messages or figures in my work. In my paintings, photographs, and collages, I play with the foreground and background relationship of our visual perception. Each piece represents a common or iconic face, but the viewer must rediscover it by peering deeper into the artwork.
