Cigdem Corek

Çiğdem Çörek is a Turkish painter whose work explores nature, memory, and everyday surroundings through different materials and visual approaches. Painting since the early 2000s, she has worked with techniques including oil painting, gouache, acrylic, and collage, developing an intuitive practice shaped by experimentation and material exploration.

Her artistic background was shaped through years of studio-based education focused on color, form, and drawing, as well as collective production environments that influenced her visual language and artistic perspective. Alongside her artistic practice, she studied urbanism, where basic design education further shaped her understanding of space, composition, and perception.

Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Istanbul, Ankara, and Paris.

Currently based between Warsaw and Ankara, She continues her artistic practice through different subjects, surfaces, and materials inspired by the changing visual experience of everyday life.

Although formally trained in Urban and Regional Planning, my educational background has included extensive studies in design, spatial thinking, and visual communication. Alongside my university education, I received informal artistic training for over fifteen years at the Hikmet Çetinkaya Art Studio in Ankara, where I developed my drawing and painting practice. I have also participated in award-winning architectural and urban design competition teams and designed posters and visual materials for university theatre productions. These experiences, combining art, design, architecture, and place-making, continue to shape my artistic perspective and creative work.
