Kate is a self-taught artist who developed her artistic abilities later in life. She loves to explore many art mediums when creating, although she will always state that beads are her favorite. Animals and the habitats they live in hold a special place in her heart and these themes will appear again and again in her artwork. Each piece that Kate creates represents a memory, an emotion or an idea that she was trying to capture at the time and thus forms a journal of her life, telling her story as she lived it. Kate Claringbould grew up in Australia surrounded by vibrant colors, sights and sounds. As a child she explored the Australian landscape on many driving and camping trips with her family. During these trips she was introduced to the colors and intensity of bushland, tropics, deserts and many places in between. She often states that her love of color, shapes and texture comes from those days in the bush, and one or all are often present in her artwork creating unique explorations of the world around us.
