Like running for a bus that you miss, then you turn that run into a casual jog…pretending that you didn’t even want it in the first place. Our heroine Grace strikes a pose and slips from her chair. A casual pose? A good recovery? Anything but a fall from grace!

About the Artist

Pete Conroy

Australia

I’m interested in portraits with a difference.
I intentionally distort features as I draw, then when it comes to painting, I try to bring them back to reality. Sometimes I bring them too far too reality and the painting loses its interest, and sometimes I don’t manage to bring them back far enough and the painting remains too ‘cartoony’. However when a painting has the juxtaposition of both and a foot in each realm, this is when I judge if a portrait has been a success.
A classically painted portrait with a twist of something else!
