Teruni Wikramanayake

I was born in 1962, in the resplendent island of Sri Lanka, the emerald in the Indian Ocean. I have travelled and lived in many parts of the world, including the US (California) and Europe (London and Paris). I currently live in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

My interest in painting has been since my teen years. I am presently inclined to paint in abstract form. When I start a painting I generally have no concept in mind. My feelings, imagination, and creativity all come together the moment I place a stroke, or blob of colour on my canvas! This challenge is what motivates me and drives me to paint. I must admit though that the internal struggle I face in trying to achieve something that appeals to me is understood only by artists who paint abstractly.

I have participated in two exhibitions. The last one "Dream Catchers" was held in 2012, at the Lionel Wendt Gallery, in Colombo.

I am grateful to Professor Sarath Chandrajeewa () who has guided me in developing my style of abstract art.
