Harry Barker

Harry studied at the renowned Manchester High School of Art, class of 72. The proud school badge declared 'Exploramus' (We Explore). In 1971 after often being stubbornly at odds with his mentor and fine art teacher Mrs. Elaine Middleton, she awarded Harry the ultimate accolade by way of announcing the highest end-of-course assessment score that she had ever given during her many years at the school. Harry was both moved and honoured by her words and the gesture was never forgotten.

Now, some 50+ years on, his work draws from a lifetime's Exploramus in Art and Photography. Often infusing and enhancing the influences of watercolours and pens, oils and pastels, within a now firmly embedded passion for digital art.

A diagnosis of stage 3 cancer in 2022 was a stark reminder that a showcase of Harry's work was well overdue, which at long last brings us to the here and now...
