About Deconstructed Grid (Degrid)
While the formalistic grid of modernism (Piet Mondrian grid) had to remove all temporality, naturalness, emotion, literary illusion, and interactivity with the outside, Deconstructed grid implodes grid in meaning by re-expressing what the formalistic grid of modernism removed on canvas. The artist (Laila) expressed deconstructed grid through Goethe’s emotional colors, which she chose out of inner necessity.
Creative Artwork Process
My Deconstructed Grid works are more than paintings; they are sculptural objects born from a tactile dialogue with material. By blending stone powder with acrylics, I build a rugged foundation that is carved and layered to create a physical relief. Much like a traditional fresco, the mineral-based composition provides exceptional durability. These pieces are archival and resilient, standing firm against environmental factors such as humidity, UV light, and temperature shifts.

Deconstructed Grid is an artistic concept presented by Western painter Laila Lee, and it is a series of works and an example theory that reinterprets the 'grid,' a symbol of 20th-century modernism, with her own philosophy.
The main features and meanings are as follows:
Artistic definition and philosophy
Overcoming Modernism: The formalism of modernism removes emotion, naturalness, and temporality from the screen, while "the deconstructed grid" restores it and imbues the artist's emotions into the grid.
Combination of physicality and spirituality: Attempts to combine matter (material) and spirituality by projecting psychological and emotional colors onto a flat lattice structure.
Communication with nature: Aiming for an open structure that communicates with the external world and nature by breaking down the artificial framework of the grid, and aims to capture 'nature before reduction.'
