Court Haze

Courtney Davis-Haze is a self-taught abstract artist who approaches painting as a meditative practice. Her process is intuitive and evolving; rather than working toward a fixed outcome, she allows each piece to unfold gradually over time. Working primarily in layered acrylics with mineral tones and occasional metallic elements, she builds surfaces slowly, responding to shifts in texture, movement, and atmosphere as the painting develops.

While Courtney draws inspiration from real life, including people, places, fleeting moments, and emotional experiences, her paintings do not depict specific subjects or locations. Instead, they evoke emotional or imaginative landscapes that feel familiar yet undefined, like a memory, a mood, or a place somewhere between the natural world and the inner landscape.

Trained as a classical ballerina for over 18 years, she turned to painting after an injury ended her dance career; principles of movement, restraint, and release continue to shape her approach to the canvas.


Prior to painting full-time, she worked in brand marketing in New York City, developing a sharp eye for visual impact and composition. She now lives and works in Golden, Colorado from her studio at the base of the foothills.
