Ulyana Mirta Groffman

I am a multimedia artist based in Bern, Switzerland. My practice spans painting, sculpture, drawing, and animation. Composition, color, and the line of movement are always at the foundation of my work.
My artistic research focuses on contact — as a way of living and understanding the world. Through the body, memory, and personal experience, I explore what it means to be present: in a place, in a moment, in relation to another person.
My artistic journey is inseparable from my experience of motherhood. For many years, I gave birth, adopted, and raised children while continuing to work as an active artist. This life became my material. I see the body as a calendar of time — a measure and witness of change.
I work primarily with acrylic on large-format linen and canvas. I am drawn to layering — painting one image over another, building hidden structures that shape the final form. My work is meant to live inside real spaces, close to everyday life — both conceptual and livable.
My art is a search for contact. Contact with the body. Contact with memory. Contact with the world.
