Nat Bess: Dynamics of Spirit, In Every Stroke. The life journey of Nat Bess is an inspiring story of how a deep passion for risk and movement transformed into a powerful force of creativity. Until the age of 33, Nat Bess built a successful career that demanded absolute precision and attention to detail as a practicing dentist. This experience laid the foundation for her unique approach to art: the ability to combine structural analysis with emotional expression. Catalyst: The Price of Risk and Academic Foundation Nat Bess had always sought thrills, which found their outlet in her love for horse riding. It was during this noble yet dangerous pursuit that she suffered her first severe spinal injury. Following the trauma, Bess continued her dental practice, though with significantly reduced intensity due to physical limitations. This period of adaptation led her to channel her restless energy inward, where she discovered painting, an existential necessity. Several years after this first trauma, this inner search evolved into rigorous academic training: Nat Bess pursued a degree in art history from one of the world’s most prestigious institutions: the I.E. Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. The Birth of a Style The final transition to painting as a full-time profession occurred after the second injury. Her works, charged with vital force and kinetic energy, are a direct reflection of this path. Nat Bess’s paintings are a hymn to the resilience of the spirit and boundless inner freedom. Today, the artist lives and works in Denmark, where the contrast between Scandinavian clarity and the turbulent, kinetic expressiveness of her painting creates a unique creative tension. She uses colour and form to convey the very dynamics and risk that once defined her life — creating art that is not merely observed, but felt as a powerful burst of energy.
