Tatiana Hellum is a contemporary artist originally from Central Asia, now based in Norway. Her art reflects a meeting of two worlds — the warm vibrancy of her early landscapes and the quiet, introspective light of the North. Growing up under the wide skies and radiant heat of Central Asia, Tatiana absorbed a natural sense of color and movement; living in Norway has brought a calm clarity and balance to her vision. Working mainly with acrylics on canvas, she builds layered abstractions where emotion becomes rhythm and contrast turns into harmony. Her technique combines palette knife, glazing, and textured layering — an intuitive process developed through years of self-directed exploration. Influenced by Eastern philosophy, Tatiana believes that stillness and flow coexist, and that beauty often reveals itself in silence. Her inspiration often comes from natural rhythms, reflections of light, and emotional states that shift like landscapes. A passionate traveler, she finds visual poetry in every place she visits — from vast northern skies to quiet urban corners. Colors, textures, and fleeting impressions are absorbed and transformed through her perception. Especially drawn to turquoise, a color that has fascinated her since childhood despite growing up far from the sea, Tatiana often speaks of how she feels when faced with a breathtaking landscape: a wish to dissolve into atoms and reassemble within the canvas itself. Her works have been shown in group exhibitions in Norway and are held in private collections both locally and abroad. Each painting becomes a space of transformation — a dialogue between warmth and coolness, memory and presence, inner light and the tangible world.
