Maria Cortes

I am a Madrid-based artist with a third-generation background in art dealing. I co-founded MAS ARTE – The World Art Magazine, which I led for over a decade, engaging with key figures in the international art world.
Before focusing on my own practice, I worked closely with leading galleries including Coll & Cortés and Colnaghi, advising collectors and institutions on significant acquisitions.
My painting practice explores contemporary figurative landscapes where leopards inhabit quiet, architectural spaces—tennis courts, pools, and gardens—creating a refined tension between instinct and structure.
My work has been exhibited in Madrid, including two exhibitions with Jordi Mollà, and is held in private collections across Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean.
