I am a Korean artist working across drawing, painting, printmaking, and video. My practice is rooted in emotions, memories, and fleeting thoughts that emerge through everyday life, which I translate into works based on the act of doodling. During my MFA and PhD studies, I explored primitive forms of human visual expression and found meaningful clues in the spontaneous marks and gestures of everyday doodles. Based on these simple and universally accessible forms, I develop my work using the fundamental mechanisms of doodling as a visual language. By employing a range of media, I aim to express unconscious emotions and thoughts, as well as quiet narratives of daily life—moving between the past, the present, and imagined futures. My work seeks to capture these inner traces in a direct yet poetic visual form.
