Born in Madrid in 1976 and based in Brazil since 2005, Pedro Rodríguez Fernández is a Spanish artist whose work explores the relationship between close observation and personal expression.
Working across painting and drawing, particularly in watercolor, graphite, and charcoal, Rodríguez Fernández is drawn to wildlife, nature, and portraiture. His work combines a strong commitment to traditional techniques with an expressive approach to light, texture, atmosphere, and character.
Rather than seeking photographic reproduction alone, he aims to capture a sense of presence — the particular gaze of an animal, the fleeting expression of a person, or the quiet character of a moment. His paintings and drawings are built through patient observation and a careful study of form, allowing detail and expressive mark-making to coexist.
His work is held in private collections internationally. Through both wildlife and portraiture, Rodríguez Fernández continues to explore the possibilities of traditional media as a means of creating intimate, enduring images with a strong sense of individuality.
