Everything humans make is temporary. We know this, and we make things anyway; one of the more quietly remarkable things about us.
What interests me isn't just the act of making, but what happens afterwards. The way time gets into things. Rust, patina, weathering, the slow reclamation of the man-made by nature. The way a place or a story accumulates new meanings without losing the old ones. Castles. Stone circles. Structures that started as one thing, become something else entirely through centuries of use, abandonment, and reinterpretation.
Based in Yorkshire, I make paintings and mixed-media work, often on OSB, plywood, or older works painted over; materials that already carry a meaning or history before I begin.
I'm not trying to document or preserve any of this. I'm just another human trying to capture a moment where something becomes something else.
