My name is Mia Nicole Marquez I gained the enjoyment of painting at the age of 15. As I aged my love for painting changed, growing into an emotional connection. I'm here to discuss my epilepsy engagement with my artwork and how it has impacted my life. I'm here to explain how my epilepsy, including medication, aura, and personal changes has affected my life. Catching epilepsy at the age of nine, it has quiet me down in my life. I had the responsibility of taking my medicine every day at the right time, both day and night. throughout my teenage years, there was a fear inside of me always needing parental guidance at all times. It had stopped to live the stages and journeys of how a teenager would live their life. I was not able to have the same opportunities my peers had such as going out after school with a friend or even being able to walk home alone.The constant fear, anxiety, and uneasiness of what could happen any time, anywhere, and any day. Until Painting came along into my life. The one thing I had complete control over was my ability to create art throughout my journey. It took me outta this world and put me in another one of this deep concentration of inner excitement in my own world of art. As this continued through my life, it has become not only a therapeutic hobby but an adventure of beauty and excitement for art. Each painting is a vision I see with my eyes, each has a story behind it full of emotions and dreams. Each takes time and dedication with a story to see in your eyes. After Developing which kind of seizures I had, by the age of 12 my doctor recommended me to take a medication called Keppra. Keppra helped along for me to avoid any seizures during class, at home is in bed. After Subsequently I had woken up in the middle of the night in fear. Every one was still in the condition of being asleep. I sat down on the couch and began to cry. The side effect of depression was developed in me. Following behind was an illness of depersonalization, which I suffer from till this day. As time passes, my doctor was still attempting to find me the right medication. As my ages grew the worst it had gotten. After I graduated high school I began to regain seizures every single day. I was unable to begin college without catching a seizure during class or traveling. I had to stay home every single day with no attempt to go anywhere. If I was to go outside it would be by my mother’s side.
