I have practised art on the sidelines for 50 years and am now finally able to really invest some serious time in what I truly love to do. Following a 35 year career in engineering and in the United Nations, I have pivoted to start my next dual career as a futurist – someone who studies and advises on the future, and an artist. In practical terms this entails research and non-fiction writing, the creation of future-themed artwork and strategic foresight consultancy. I note the oncoming AI tsunami on digital art and its broader implications for painting, graphics and printing. As such I believe that the 5-30 year future of top end human made fine art now lies mainly in multi-material complex 2D and 3D sculptures.
