Kerry-Jane Lowery is a Swiss-British photographer, anthropologist, and author. Born and raised in Geneva, she divides her time between Switzerland and London. A self-taught analogue photographer, she works primarily with her Olympus OM1, drawn to the tactile richness and tonal depth of 35mm film. Digital photography occasionally features in her practice, but film remains her enduring focus.
She has lived, worked and travelled in many parts of the world, drawn to cultures different to hers and a thirst for intrepid travel. As an aid worker and humanitarian anthropologist, she worked for many years for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Africa, South America, the Balkans, Middle East and Asia. This peripatetic lifestyle feeds into her photography work and writing to this day.
Kerry-Jane is a published author: Exploring the Mystery of Matter commissioned by CERN was published in 2008 and The Verbier Chronicles will come out in October 2025. She has also been a commissioning editor and contributing writer for various magazines and led the independent London-based publisher Urbane Publications for four years.
