Asako Abe is a Tokyo-based abstract painter whose practice began in early childhood. Drawing is her daily ritual, a quiet meditation shaped by memory and sound.
Having lived in Japan and Malaysia, her work reflects a transnational sensitivity formed through migration and cultural movement.
Inspired by fragments of memory and musical rhythm, she builds layered compositions like improvising on the piano. Through color and subtle shifts of light, she creates atmospheric spaces that suggest past, present, and imagined futures.
Abe has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo and participated in group exhibitions in Japan.
