Lattecha Willocks

Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica in 1979, Lattecha Willocks’ artistic career began in 2001 when she left home for Vienna, where she lived for a year exploring her wide range of creative interests. This is where she first taught herself the variety of skills needed to succeed as an artist. She has since traveled to nine different countries on this pursuit, and returned home to Jamaica to set up shop in Negril, where her art studio is currently located.

As an artist, her work is influenced by her travels, her experience in the hospitality industry, and her Rastafarian roots. She creates in order to share her roots, culture and dreams with the world.

Lattecha’s paintings are bright, feminine explorations of life on the island. Rather than focus on the darkness in life as so many artists tend to do, she chooses to paint with the intention of bringing more splendor, hope, and light back into the world. Inspired by all the powerful women in her life—including her mother, grandmother, and sister—she frequently paints the female form with an eye for its diverse beauty and strength.
