Helga Dieckmann was born in Schleswig-Holstein, grew up in rural areas, where an intensive relationship with nature developed. The artistic path begins in the parental home under the care of nature-loving parents. The father paints and passes on his knowledge of painting to his daughter. The requirements of professional activity influence the intensity of occupation with painting, but never lead far from the path. The first professional training includes a three-year instruction in photography. The acquisition of image content and the resulting composition of the image is trained during this time. The focus is on the importance and effects of light in the picture. The rules of perspective are approached. In addition to practicing the profession, further training in painting takes place. Drawing and painting are taught at the former Free Academy of Art in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg. The focus here is on painting with oil paints. The artistic area of the Anthroposophical Society Berlin becomes a regular training room for working with watercolors. Constant artistic activity leads to work with oil and acrylic paints, as well as work with pastels. Painting surfaces are paper, wood or canvas. Contemporary art, expressive painting, based on expressionism and abstract expressionism, forms the focus of the work, occasionally touching on surrealism and impressionism. On the journey between the worlds, inspiration comes from nature and music. Role models are William Turner, whose abundance of light fascinates in his works, and Jackson Pollock, whose irregular painting style inspires. Over the years, alongside the job and after that, there was temporary further training, including at the private academy for painting in Berlin-Charlottenburg. A special feature of the works are the reliefs, which form the colored background before working with the acrylic paint and allow for particularly active work. They can symbolize the conflicts between man and nature. Helga Dieckmann has been working as a freelance painter since August 1st, 2014.
