After working in a traditional darkroom, moving on to digital I am now exploring the days of photography before film. When you had to make your own film, pouring chemicals on glass, exposing the glass to light and ending up with a glass negative the size of an iPad.

Having grown up in Hong Kong and England, I have been drawn to the origins of Hong Kong, where every toy was 'made in Hong Kong' while at the same time every fake rolex even fake camera was also easily found here without having to look too hard. Thus, the concept for a project was born to create portraits which looked real but were in fact fakes, they are real photographs but the subjects are not what they seem. That larger than life portrait is a fraud, since the subject is a toy and that toy is often only a few inches high. The camera never lies is a cliché, well it doesn't in this case, it's one's own perceptions which are being fooled with.
