About 25 years ago I set aside the url: in anticipation of sharing the images that I was shooting while exploring the Four Corner States of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah.

It’s been a while!!

Life has a habit of creeping up on you and before you know it, 20 years has just snuck up and overtaken you.

So here we are in 2024, I have a website to go with the url and I finally have time to share with you!

Paradise Divide Photography is a collection of moments captured through my lens as I was either taking exciting hiking or skiing trips with my lovely wife Angela. I’m lucky enough to have lived and still do live in a remote part of Colorado and also have access to beautiful scenery right outside my door. From the stunning Four Corners geologic formations and the ancient peoples that made their homes there, to crumbling adobe mud brick farm houses in rural Colorado and the sharp angled school rooms of “America’s Architect” Frank Lloyd Wright in Scottsdale, Arizona.

I studied Architecture in Nottingham, England. At first under the tutelage of Graham Brown, a successful innovative Architect who taught me many things not just how to push a pen around a piece of paper. After leaving Nottingham University I ventured into many spheres not just design and tried my hand at motor racing. I was fortunate enough to keep my race car at Brands Hatch which was, at that time, the home of the British Grand Prix. That led to meeting many great people in the world of fast cars, James Hunt, Patrick Tambay and Ayrton Senna to name a few. From there I decided to pursue another passion, skiing. Angela and I lived in Austria for several years as ski instructors on the glacier high up in the Stubai Tal in Tirol. That led to our emigration from Europe to Colorado in 1994. We lived in Crested Butte and set up a Design and Construction company also incorporating a Property Management Company. After many years we sold the Property Management side and retired to the hills outside Trinidad, Colorado.

Unconventionally, I use many tools to produce my images, Canon EOS A2 slide film camera, Nikon D2x digital camera, iPhone 6, iPhone 13 and a Sony Cybershot digital pocket camera. Slide film is converted to digital images with a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 that I found washed up close to Mount Ararat next to a large boat with animals wandering in and out.
