Peter McFarlane is an award winning artist, based on Salt Spring Island, whose work is in public and private collections nationally and internationally. Over his career he has worked in a wide variety of mediums particularly in the re-purposing of used objects. What connects all of his work is the re-contextualizing of obsolete everyday objects to create personal philosophies which he hopes will resonate with the viewer on a visceral and/or intellectual level and open up the possibility of a new conceptual experience. He believes waste is just a lack of imagination. He relies on long hours, landfill, personal experience, history, metal recycling and serendipity to make his art.
