Age 75 and again retired after two years stint as director of Graphics for two newspapers in Panama, and just before as , as Director of Photography for North America for EFE News and Wire Services, He still has the spark to keep his images exposed..

From 1966 to 1998- 32 years as photographer and assistant picture editor for the St. Petersburg Times, St. Pete, Florida.

1963 to 1966 – Photographer for the Tampa Tribune.,Tampa , Fl.

Retired June of 1998, from The St. Petersburg Times, and took 4 years off to travel, and maintained his teaching and consulting business
While working for the Tampa Tribune he won the 1965 Florida Press Photographers Association Photographer of the Year Award. The St. Petersburg Times hired him soon after.

While with the Times, he was the recipient of the Photographer of the Year title in 1966, 1968 and 1969.

During over his 50 years as professional photographer his photos have received over 135 awards, and has been nominated four times for the PULITZER by The St. Petersburg Times.

Ricardo J. Ferro, was educated at the University of Villanova branch in Havana, Cuba, where he finished two years of Engineering in 1961. In September of 1961, soon after the communist government closed the Catholic University, he left his native country for the USA, where he became a citizen in 1968.
