Kelly Ford

My name is Kelly Ford and this is my Boston Terrier Olive Oil. I have been painting on and off for
over twenty years. When I was 19 years old I was in a roll over truck accident which left me a
Quadriplegic. Through intense therapy and a great deal of will power I was able to regain partial
use of my arms and movement in my wrists. I have no dexterity in my fingers but figured out a
way to hold my paint brush in between my middle finger and ring finger. I then use both hands to
grasp the paint brush. I use the movement in my wrist and the strength in my arms to guide the
brush over the canvas. I have to paint on a flat surface and have learned to paint upside down
so I can work on larger canvases. After my accident, I threw myself into the world of painting. It
was not only my passion but my salvation in a sense as well. It helped me grieve what I had lost
and embrace my new way of life. One day 26 years ago my nurse and I went for a drive and
saw a Boston Terrier wandering by himself on a highway in a State park. We stopped to check
on him and he jumped right into my lap. He was very ill with pneumonia and required spending
