Doris White, (Colombian, b.1951) migrated to the United States in 1988 to better educational opportunities for her children. During this time, she discovered hairdressing as a creative outlet but found a deeper passion for painting after being inspired by her brother’s artwork during a trip to Colombia. In 1999, Doris began her artistic journey and quickly gained recognition, selling her first painting unexpectedly at an art gallery in Fort Worth, Texas. From this moment onwards, Doris transitioned to painting and exhibited her work at various venues such as the Fort Worth Art Community Center Gallery, Osteopathic Hospital, Evelyn Segal Gallery, and Milan Gallery. In 2009, her artwork was featured in the Jazz By The Boulevard festival, marking a major milestone in her career. Soon after she transformed her pieces into purses which was later showcased in the Debilzan gallery. Doris later moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she continues to expand her creativity in sculpting. Currently, she refines her artistic voice at the Art N Form Gallery in Hallandale Beach, FL, where she continues to sculpt as a source of emotional healing.
