Jeffrey Fuchs

I am a modern abstract painter living in Portland, Oregon, USA. I am also a civil engineer, specializing in large drinking water supply projects in the Western United States. I use layers of color and bold marks to tell the stories of where I've been and what I've experienced. My work is recognized for its vibrancy and depth, with viewers making new discoveries each time they experience the paintings. My paintings reference my love for urban and natural landscapes, with bits of graffiti and urban night scenes working together with forests, deserts, and trees and an occasional engineering equation or structure.

I studied Civil Engineering at the University of Utah where I ran track and cross country and took many courses in art, art history, design, and philosophy. More recently, I have studied with Phil Sylvester at The Drawing Studio in Portland and taken online courses with Cat Tesla, Julie Schumer, Jodi Ohl, Vickie Marsango, Jodie King, and Nancy Hillis.
