Born in Toronto, Canada 1948
The art you see is based on one of the three themes running through the work over many years. They are: visual music, environmental tragedy and the blue waters of the Great Lakes of North America.Currently showing visual music works. I would like you to visit my website to see more variety of work.

Jim Tubb is influenced by:the effects of global heating, the landscape, music from many genres and styles, language, architecture and literature. His is art a response to "while I'm here".
The work on this site is all devoted to the music I respect so much. The work is so satisfying and real. The images are really strong and the paintings are my response.
Subconscious creation with the history of art and music at my back. The images are me and my music and I love the feelings they give and the creative process is so challenging and at times exhausting.

Self taught, although influenced by thousands of hours of study, workshops, gallery visits and courses. My technical knowledge grows with experimentation with materials and results. Sometimes I wish I worked near more experienced painters but then I realize I need to fly solo, and make every mistake along the way. While much of my education occurs in the studio I truly appreciate feedback along the way. Quiet times reflecting and writing about my work are a part of this also. Being an artist comes with responsibility and now I am an artist.

Recent activity: I recently had a very successful two month solo show at Kwartzlab. Twelve paintings were exhibited at different times and all the work was a part of the visual music series. The response was interesting and thought provoking. The work shown here on the Saatchi site is quite similar to that shown at the Kwartzlab show.
I hope to be able to exhibit at the juried prestigious Box 11 group show coming in November to Kitchener.
Also, I try to donate work to support my causes. I will donate show/sell 8-10 works to aid in fundraising for various cultural and charity organizations. Stratford Gallery and the KW Art Gallery and The Canadian Cancer society are representative examples. I donate approximately 10 pieces to Hospital and Charity Fund Raisers every year, and have raised over $40,000, over the years.
The next Solo Exhibit is to be held at the David Kaye Gallery in Toronto, in the spring of 2012. The tentative title is "Visual Music " and the works currently on this site are quite representative of what the viewer might expect to see there.
I will also expect to be showing at several group shows with other artist friends in the months and years ahead. Peace to all.
