Marta Soul (Madrid, 1973) is a visual artist and lives and works between Spain and United Kingdom.
Her artwork makes use of iconographic simulation to produce reflections on the interactions between cultural roles, like the aesthetics of identity, the stereotypes and social behaviours. She has felt an attraction for the visual study of human appearance and the effect of time over social emotions.
She studied photography (CEV, Madrid) and she holds a Master of Arts in Filmmaking (Sheffield Hallam University).
Her photography career started in 2005, when she founded NOPHOTO, an agency of 13 artistic photographers. Based in Madrid (Spain) and Wuhan (China), the team delivered a solid agenda of projects (including exhibitions) through common enterprises.
She has taken part in exhibitions in Europe (e.g. 209 Women, Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool, 2019; East Meets West, FORMAT Festival, Derby, 2016; Here and now: contemporary Spanish photography, different cities, 2009-2011) in Asia (Welljob, Photo Beijing 2015), and America (Kopeikin Gallery, L.A. 2011).
Her work has been shown in international art fairs such as ARCO (Spain), PULSE Miami, AIPAD New York, ESTAMPA (Spain), Huston Fine Art, Texas Contemporary, Dallas Art Fair, PINTA London and París Photo.
