FP Zelma is well known for his grainy-look style, frequently preferring high speed shooting to sharp focus, always in movement even with the most “mise en scene” shots…

His very recognizable photo style comes from his reporter’s background. He aims at capturing the moment claiming that “the photographer is not making the picture... The subject is”.

Born 1974 in Paris, FP is a french multimedia artist mainly using photography and video.

FP is hired all over the world to bring his unique touch and expertise as a documentary filmmaker.

He started photography at the age of 13 and has never stopped taking pictures ever since.

He studied film-making in france at the Sorbonne and graduated from a DEA in Anthropological movies in Nanterre with Jean Rouch in 1999.

At 22 years old he was producing and filming his first documentary on the Guatemalan genocide…
Since then he never stopped to challenge viewers with difficult subjects, trying to shed a light on obscure human dramas.

After being a stringer for french TV he relocated to Chile in 2008 to be a wildlife and nature documentary filmmaker.

Then he directly moved to Shanghai in 2012 to take the lead of (multimedia art collective) island6 photo studio for 2 years, working with state of the art argentic medium and large format cameras.

In 2016, he was appointed as a foreign correspondent and war reporter for 3 years in Middle-east, notably covering the Iraq and Syrian conflicts in Mosul and Raqqa.

FP is now back in Paris producing and filming new documentaries addressing environmental and social issues.
