Dave Butcher

Hi I was born in Hove in 1959 during an almighty thunderstorm according to my Mum. Well I lived most of my Life in Middlesbrough where I was inspired by the beauty of the North York Moors.I spent most of my life working offshore on barges and riggs as a Diver out in the Middle East. It was here in my spare time I took up art (in my late 40's) starting with pen and ink and then progressing to pencil. Whilst working in pen and ink and also pencils then I purchased a good camera to provide me with material for my drawings and so I became drawn into photography. Nature inspires me and I also have been complimented on my art nude artwork, so my main subjects are Wildlife and Art Nude and I try to provide an alternative to all the bad news we are subjected to by showing the beauty of life in my drawings.Artists who inspire me are Mike Budden, Mike Sibley, Brian Duey, Susan Shimeld , Clive Meredith, John Wieser to name a few.

Am self taught re art.I have had the picture below exhibited at The Mall Gallery in London, when it was shortlisted for the 'David Shepeherd Wildlife Artist Of The Year award in2008'At the momment I have some of my work exhibited at the Crypt Gallery in Seaford. I have not really pushed my work but intend to exhibit a lot more in the near future.,
