Richard Szkutnik

My work is rooted in the traditions of oil painting, both en plein air and in the studio, using a limited palette to capture the essence of the scenes I encounter. I am drawn to the interplay of shadow and light, which shapes and defines the world around us. By painting directly from nature, I strive to reveal the subtle ways that light transforms landscape and city architecture.
My inspiration come from all corners of the countryside and cityscape, where the natural and build worlds coexist and offer endless opportunities to explore visual contrasts. Through my paintings, I seek to convey not just the visual appearance of a place but the emotional resonance that light and shadow evoke.
