Diego Dalke is a visual artist from Buenos Aires whose work reinterprets the logic of chess through geometric abstraction, drawing inspiration from the iconic Bauhaus chess sets. Through his series Enigmas del Tablero and Genialidades del Ajedrez, Dalke transforms classic problems by Mrs. W.J. Baird and Ellerman, as well as iconic games like The Immortal, into compositions of pure forms squares, rhombuses, circles, lines, and vibrant contrasting colors. Each piece becomes a visual puzzle that captures the tension and dynamism of the game, inviting viewers to uncover the hidden beauty within its strategic depths. Dalke's process begins with a ritual: he places a chessboard on his desk, arranging the pieces in a strategic position and analyzing their inherent dynamics. He then translates these into an abstract visual language using mixed digital techniques, blending precise vector work with organic textures.
