Nicolette Wollentin

I am a self-taught nature and wildlife photographer based in Göttingen, Germany. My work moves between intimate animal encounters, reduced winter landscapes and more abstract studies of wind, water, reflection and movement.

Rather than treating nature as something to be simply documented, I use photography to explore presence, distance, stillness and perception. I am drawn to moments in which an animal becomes a counterpart, a landscape is reduced to only a few forms, or movement turns the familiar into something uncertain.

My photographs are created through observation rather than staging. I work in both color and black and white, often using negative space, restrained palettes, selective blur and close framing to create images that feel quiet, immediate and open to interpretation.

My work develops through ongoing series, allowing related images to build meaning through repetition, variation and sequence. Across these bodies of work, I am interested in the subtle traces that remain: a gaze, a gesture, a line in snow, a ripple, or the shape of wind.
