Ruso Kastell

Ruso Kastell is a versatile visual artist based in Hamburg, originally from Georgia. With a background in fashion and textile design, she combines screen printing, drawing, painting, and collage techniques to create unique, thought-provoking pieces. Her work often explores political, cultural, and emotional themes through bold colors and layered symbolism.
Ruso's artworks reflect a deep connection to human experience, expressing strength, vulnerability, and transformation. Each piece invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect – offering a moment of clarity in a noisy world.

1991-1994: Studied Art and Graphic Design at the State School of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, Georgia.
1994-2000: Earned a Diploma in Journalism from the Technical University of Georgia.
2000-2001: Studied Fashion Design at JAK Fashion Academy in Hamburg, Germany.
2004-2012: Completed a Diploma in Textile, Fashion, and Graphic Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, Germany.
Professional Experience:

2006-2009: Conducted workshops and exhibitions in textile design, focusing on screen printing techniques.
2007-2008: Worked as a freelance illustrator for the London-based magazine "Immigrants".
2008: Completed an internship in fashion design with designer Sibylla Pavenstedt.
2008: Served as a design assistant for projects at Jacobs University.
2008-2011: Directed various art projects in collaboration with photographer America Ester Mendez.
2008-2018: Worked as a freelance lecturer and instructor in the fields of art and fashion design at various art and district schools in Hamburg.
