I am a self-taught visual artist creating abstract-surreal landscapes in oils and acrylics. My work is deeply influenced by nature—trees, skies, geological forms—which I view as living archives of memory, resilience, and time. Before returning to art, I spent over a decade teaching social sciences and geography, which still informs my understanding of ecosystems, erosion, and interconnected systems. Though not formally trained in science, I approach my practice with an observational sensitivity, exploring how invisible forces—wind, gravity, memory—shape the visible world. I often draw on ecological structures to build emotional metaphors, layering paint like sediment or tracing tree forms as symbols of ancestral connection. My process mirrors scientific inquiry: observe, respond, test, and revise. For me, painting is a way to listen—to land, to inner terrain, to the quiet urgency of environmental change. It is where art and science meet: in the act of paying close attention.
