The paintings of Swedish born, Cyprus-based abstract painter Carolina Alotus (b. 1970) are luminous, fantastical arenas in which beauty and harmony negotiate fiercely with chaos. Her compositions are active and energetic, sparking visual tension from unexpected relationships between colors, forms and textures, and from the feverish juxtaposition of seemingly disparate mediums and techniques.
“As an abstract artist, my work is a continuous exploration of emotion, movement,
and the intangible forces that shape human experience. Created through a deeply
intuitive process, my paintings emerge organically, guided by instinct rather than
predetermined outcomes. I embrace spontaneity, allowing color, texture, and form
to interact freely, resulting in compositions that feel both raw and deliberate. My art
is not merely a visual expression but an invitation—an open-ended dialogue where
each viewer finds their own meaning and emotional resonance.”
Autodidact
Alotus has exhibited throughout Europe and in the United States, including at Gallery Kim Anstensen, Sweden; the Royal Collage of Art, Kensington, UK; Schomburg Gallery, Los Angeles, USA; Karen Lynne Gallery Miami, USA, and at Galerie Foxx, Switzerland. Her work in included in numerous private collections, and her paintings have been featured in three of Saatchi Art's catalogues.
