Louise Flood

I’m Lou and I work from my studio at home on the Wirral. I’ve been painting part-time for about 4 years. My work has recently gone under a process of metamorphosis. Initially, I painted representationally but, I’ve realised that doesn’t wholly satisfy me or challenge me.
My work now is abstract - I react to what I create on the surface, painting intuitively.
I read a lot and more often than not I will write ideas down rather than use a sketch book. I've realised that many, words, phrases and characters come to mind when I create my work.
I like build up abstract layers of paint and then find imagery within the layers to exaggerate/draw upon or to scrape away.
