Paul Rappaport was born in The Bronx, New York in 1942.As a young a young boy, when television was in its infancy, he was greatly influenced by the TV artist John Gnagy. His creative talent and interest emerged from this point.
Upon his retirement to Florida, he was basking in the beauty of the envionment and spotted a piece of Palm bark on the ground and had an epithany. He saw it as a fish and proceeded to turn it into a wall sculpture That was the beginning of an art form he calls "Arts of Palm." He began to recycle the many parts of the palm trees,including the fronds,the seed pods , the leaves , the bark and even the coconuts.
Paul lives in South Florida with his wife. He has two daughters and three grandchildren. They all seem to have inherited some of his talent,
He studied illustration at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. He studied under the famed illustrator and cartoonist Burne Hogarth. As a result of many twists and turns in the road,he ultimately became an award winning Point of Purchase Display designer. Painting and creativity was an avocation he followed throughout his working years. He attended The Art League of Long Island and won several awards in their exhibitions
