Photography for me is an active exploration of the world; a place where the unconscious mind intersects with conscious intention. It is an opportunity to look closely at our experience and communicate what we discover. My primary subjects of interest are ecological, both natural and urban. My traditional landscape work emphasizes a romantic appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. I often incorporate the use of long exposure techniques to add impressionistic elements into my work. Experiencing nature is more than just standing in beautiful places. There’s an ineffable element of mystery, mood, and energy. I want to share not just how a place looked, but how it felt to be there.
I studied psychology at California State University, Northridge. I then went on to graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley where I earned my master of arts degree in political science. I am a mostly self-taught photographer.
