Antonella Serafini.Giuliana was born in 1951 in Seravezza near Pietrasanta in Tuscany. Between 1962 and 1968 she was a student at the Istituto DArte Stagio Stagi in Pietrasanta, gaining a Master of Arts Diploma. This was followed by a further four years studying painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara. The Tuscan landscape and childhood memories still bear a strong influence upon the artists current work. In an earlier statement she describes her first encounters with Art in Italy as a child in her fathers mosaic studio. She refers to the translucency of the mosaic fragmentand her fascination with the vibrancy of colour from the juxtapositioning of pieces. Her current works show an economy in terms of compositional design, with richness of surface mark and colour, reconfirming the artists earlier delight in light and transparency.
My work is varied and often developed from an idea encountered during a journey that takes me in an unknown territory where I grow as an Artist. I usually work in small series of paintings, where memory and imagination come to interplay. Time made me more familiar with Northern landscape and it finally has left a mark in some of my work, as I become more intrigued by its drama and atmosphere.

Tour de Yorkshire - Yorkshire Artists - 2017

A special exhibition from Not Just Hockney website celebrating Yorkshire's biggest bike race and a summer of cycling. I am pleased to be one of the thirteen artists selected for Bradford’s Big Screen.
My artwork images, along with other artists' work, will be shown on the Bradford Big Screen in Centenary Square, Bradford each day, starting Wednesday 12th April 2017. There are 13 Yorkshire artists, with 50 artwork images featured.
My artwork images will be shown on the screen at 11.00am each day, every day, until the end of July 2017. There will be an online link to the presentation via the Bradford Big Screen 'What's On' guide, and I anticipate there will be a feature article in the Bradford Telegraph & Argus newspaper.
The images were collected from across the Yorkshire region by Colin Neville, curator of the ‘Not Just Hockney’ website in partnership with Bradford UNESCO City of Film.
Mr Neville said: "There are some wonderful cycling images by talented Yorkshire artists that really capture the atmosphere, colour and excitement of previous Tours in this region. It’s marvellous that day three of the Tour this year will start in Bradford City Park and these images will look great on the big screen as a backdrop to all the cyclists and crowds massed there. The Tour is a great morale boost for the city. Bring it on."

This poet, Giacomo da Michele by name, is remembered as Folgare for the splendour of his life in San Gimignano, which is still much as he knew it - a little, walled medieval city with its crown of towers.
