Helena Blankenstein is an ecological artist and designer, cultural manager, and permaculture cultivator. She was born in the ‘Heart of Africa’, Malawi, and has family roots on the island of Madeira, Holland and Germany, and is currently in the city of Valencia.

She has decided to dedicate her life to art creation and cultural management to develop the capacity of contemporary artistic practice as a vector of empathy with ecological problems, in particular with those characterized by their ecosystem factor, thus enhancing environmental awareness. Blankenstein considers art to be a high form of social criticism and therefore the main field of aesthetic and philosophical advancement. She wants to train in the ecological humanities to develop and transmit an ecological aesthetic.

Helena Blankenstein has a degree in Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Cultural Management from the University of Valencia, as well as a Master's degree in Environmental Humanities, Sustainability and Ecosocial Transition from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She has developed a passion for postcolonial and postmodern theories, the link between art, ecology, sociology and anthropology and especially ecological and participatory art and ecodesign inspired by the work of Neri Oxman, Thomas Hirschhorn, and Joseph Beuys.

Various courses have expanded Helena's education especially the course on Exhibition Curating Processes with Nuria Enguita in contemporary art museum Bombas Gens as well as ‘Criticism and Curating Summer School’ in the Royal College of Art.

Helena has a great interest in all facets of sustainable development: through artistic work, cultural management, business innovation and working with associations. This interest shows through her efforts; she as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the cultural asociación 'Asociación Culturarte', Founder of Naked Organics, and advocate for issues including the UN SDGs and col...
