Steve White

I was born in 1985 in sheffield. I have recently completed a B.A. in Fine Art for Design at dewsbury college in West Yorkshire. Now I am finishing my Masters degree in Drawing at Camberwell college of art, London.

I am inspired by artists such as basquiat, christopher wool, adam neate, Neasden Contol Centre, and many other graphitti based artists, as well as other contempoary artists who draw.
The work is an exploration of the confusion of a modern day life. It is a response to the volume of visual messages experienced everyday; a confusion of text, numbers, adverts, symbols, and printed ephemera. These visual messages force people to comply with a demand in order to live their life.
The work examines notions of semiotics contained in the signs and text which bombard this world.
The work explores the exchange of this information through graphic symbols and text which is discreet yet direct and is either; necessary, un-necessary, wanted or un-wanted. This then becomes a defiance and refusal of the apparent inevitability of technology, and the authority it holds upon everyday life, along with its implications upon an implied narrative upon the experience an individual has on a day to day basis.
