Ingrid Schau

I live and work in Malmo by the sea, in the south of Sweden. I was born in 1957 and the pen and the brush have been my vital companions for as long as I remember.

My private heaven is my attic studio, a hardy enough environment to suit my world of ideas and to coop with all tough stains of colour included in the intense world of expressive painting.

My work of art is a carrier of spontaneity and an intense dialogue with the motive in front of me is an essential part of the process towards a final result.

Oil and ink are my main favourite means of expression and all traces of the process, surviving the process, are welcome to stay on my canvas or piece of paper.
I am interested in the expressive as a carrier of origin and fascinated by figures, shapes of figures, their movements and interactions.

My inspiration comes from anything that talks to me, preferably knocks me. I love artists with honest and bold pen- or brushwork and artists giving expressive clues beyond the loudly outspoken.
