ISABEL REGO - Isabel Maria Rego Pereira Coutinho

I am a self- taught painter, born in 1957, Porto/Portugal.

Around my 30s, I began to study and copy great masters like Bouguereau, Leighton, Alma-Tadema , Caravaggio and others, in order to improve. Fortunately we have terrific living artists , for whose examples I have great respect and gratitude.
I am influenced by some cubist painters, Jean Metzinger, Albert Gleizes, Lyonel Feininger.......
I admire Tonalism style and Hudson River School artists . Sometimes, I like to paint landscapes .

I don’t pretend that my paintings tell a story or express my mental state. Painting gives me great joy. I hope the viewer will feel that joy, passion and the full commitment that I put into each painting . Nothing cannot be achieved without, passion, discipline, practice and study.
