Nahid Marandi

Living in Ontario Canada since 1983.

The idea for my art, which I have named Tableaus, originated in 1997, after years of painting and drawing, Nahid Marandi began sculpting figures of women using silk fabric. She named this work Tableaus. The overwhelming response for her debut collection in London, England, inspired Nahid to capture women beyond their ethnicity or culture towards their shared essence.

"The women in my Tableaus have one thing in common- their search for enlightenment. Each piece represents the woman who believes in herself and in her roles as mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend. I celebrate a woman's role and journey..."


After finding the hand-made silk, Nahid sculpts each figure and uses various media to create a unique background. Through this powerful art form Nahid presents her subject's vibrance and movement in a single piece of fabric.


Nahid's art has been featured in numerous publications and television programs and in private and public exhibits across North America and Europe.
