A fine art graduate of Natal Technikon in the mid 1980's. At last I have come back to my first love which is clay and am presently creating non-functional art while continuing to paint and draw. For me, while I value the 'art for art's sake' philosophy, it needs to be layered with meaning, the content mulled over (like a good glass of red)and appropriate symbols used in the process. A simple still life should never be taken at face value! No wonder Van Eyck holds me in a thrall! I am however not a prolific artist, sometimes taking many years to complete a work.
Under heavy construction, with all sorts of scaffolding, paper and sticky tape!
