Jan Van Der Meulen

In his paintings Jan van der Meulen demonstrates a great love for the wide spaces, skies and colours of the Dutch landscape. A landscape that is continuously changing an impressing. In colour and perspective Jan makes this spatial drama visual, almost tangible.


Jan was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands in 1956. He has been working as an artist since 1980, when he graduated from art academy. Between 1988 and 2000 he was owner and art director of Art for Sale, bureau for art and design. In this period he designed many artworks for major companies (e.g. ING Bank, various Dutch ministries, Dutch Railways, Brocacef, Achmea). Although the company was very successful, Jan opted for a career in painting and therefore sold the company in 2000.


Jan works and lives in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. He is married and has two daughters. He is a great fan of music (Bach or flamenco), practises Buddhist mediation, and loves to walk or cycle in Holland or elsewhere across this globe.
