John De Lherm

I was born in Casablanca, Africa and in my childhood lived mainly in France, in the UK and in Italy.

After graduating from University I travelled to lots of places and countries and sailed across the globe ... For a living I did all sorts of jobs : building ships, a huge solar power plant, schools, managing teams and international projects. But that wasn't my aim, that wasn't me !

My main concern has always been to denounce "la folie du monde" and give some sense to our lives if possible. That's why from the beginning I was interested in relationships between individuals, social behaviour and man in his environment.

Overcoming my education was a long meandering path as my XIXth century educated family considered artists as disreputable parasites except for the classics ... ( although my mother as a student had been awarded a first Prize in Fine Art Drawing by the City of Paris, at a time when it was the place to be for an artist) .

Today Art is my answer and I am doing my public artist's coming-out !

As an autodidact in Art the process was long : I spent years becoming familiar with Architecture - design - photo - painting - I worked with wood - steel - clay - made some sketches and pastels.
The snap came later on, from the mix of experience in square compositions ( thanks to the Hasselblad ) and the spontaneousness of acrylic I discovered when buying my first tubes.
